In 2004, Christina Bishop, of Clarenville, Newfoundland, aspired to be a songwriter upon the arrival of her two children engaging in a pursuit that would be beneficial to them. They helped her rediscover her talent she had as a young child and inspired her to write and compose her music. During this time, she wrote several country songs.
In 2007, she joined together with her guitar instructor and two other musicians to create a bluegrass & ol’ thyme country band that played, locally, for six years, and held their spot at the province’s Annual Bluegrass & Ol’ Thyme Country Jamboree for five consecutive years. She became a fan favorite with her choice of country songs she sang written by Merle Haggard, Bob McDill (Don Williams) and Bob Dylan, as well as putting her own mark on bluegrass favorites written by Alison Krauss, Lee Alexander, Claire Lynch and The Steel Drivers, to name a few.
In 2015, she connected with music producer, Peter Daniel Newman of St. John’s, who took her on, wholeheartedly, giving Christina the opportunity to bring her songs to life through his connections in Nashville, Tennessee.
Christina’s first solo debut album, Wildwinged Child, was released in January, 2016 and includes mostly original tunes.
